Visit to North Gosforth Academy with Newcastle United Foundation
The Harrison Foundation is proud to continue its long-standing partnership with the Newcastle United Foundation, working together on the transformative Schools Partnership Programme—an initiative that helps young people across the North East unlock their full potential through education, mentorship, and employability training.
As part of the ongoing collaboration, Harrison Foundation trustee Daniel Harrison recently visited North Gosforth Academy, one of the partner schools benefiting from the programme. During his visit, Daniel met with students and tutors to see first-hand how the Schools Partnership is making a difference in their lives. As a co-founder and former CEO of one of the UK’s largest financial services firms, Daniel also shared practical employability tips and insights to help them build confidence and prepare for life beyond school.
The Schools Partnership Programme, led by the Newcastle United Foundation, works with secondary schools across the region to provide tailored support to young people who may be at risk of disengagement from education or who face barriers to achieving their potential. By embedding full-time Foundation staff in schools, the programme offers targeted interventions including personal development sessions, mentoring, careers advice, and resilience-building activities—all aimed at improving educational outcomes and future employability.

Daniel Harrison, trustee of the Harrison Foundation, described the visit as both inspiring and energising:
“It was a real privilege to meet the brilliant young people and dedicated staff at North Gosforth Academy. Seeing how the Schools Partnership Programme is helping students develop confidence, life skills, and aspirations was genuinely uplifting. At the Harrison Foundation, we believe in giving people the tools and opportunities to build better futures for themselves. This partnership with the Newcastle United Foundation is doing exactly that, and we’re proud to be supporting it.”
The Harrison Foundation’s partnership with the Newcastle United Foundation began in 2017 and has grown steadily over the years. To date, the Harrison Foundation has committed over £500,000 to support the Foundation’s community work, with a significant portion directed towards the Schools Partnership Programme as well as the dedicated Harrison Centre for Social Mobility esports room based at the NUCASTLE. .
This long-term investment reflects the shared values of both organisations—creating fairer opportunities, raising aspirations, and empowering young people to thrive regardless of their background or circumstances.
Andy Foster, Director of Programmes and Impact at the Newcastle United Foundation, said:
“We are incredibly grateful to the Harrison Foundation for their continued and unwavering support. Their investment in our Schools Partnership Programme is helping to break down barriers to education and employment for hundreds of young people every year. The visit from Daniel gave students a unique opportunity to learn from someone with real-world experience and to feel supported by a wider community that believes in their potential.”

At North Gosforth Academy, the impact of the programme is clear. Students who may have previously struggled with engagement or confidence are now participating in structured sessions that build their social and emotional skills, improve their school attendance, and boost their ambitions for the future.
This visit marks another milestone in a partnership that continues to grow stronger each year. With continued support from the Harrison Foundation, the Newcastle United Foundation is expanding its reach, aiming to work with even more schools and young people in the years to come.
At the Harrison Foundation, we believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed—and we are proud to stand alongside the Newcastle United Foundation in making that a reality across the North East.
